Posters

This poster series was created for a class to study typography and poster layout. I used a scanner to produce crisp images and create a crinkled type effect to give off a very raw and edgy look. I wanted to use shocking imagery to draw viewers into these important social issues.

Drug Policy Reform

01

To achieve the final outcome, I experimented with various compositions of the props on a scanner, given the challenge of understanding their interplay without accompanying text which I added afterward. Originally, I wanted to incorporate the statistics and text into the props, but after further consideration, decided to make the text one of the props. The textual elements were crafted by printing out the words in a bold typeface, crinkling the page, unfolding it, and scanning it. Subsequently, I edited the scanned image to produce a grungy effect, contributing to the overall aesthetic of the piece.

Arms Control

02

This poster diverges slightly from the first one, as I couldn't employ a scanner to generate the images. Because of this, this poster remained unfinished until I could find materials. Instead of scanning, I photographed the props under suitable lighting conditions and later removed their backgrounds in Photoshop to achieve the desired effect.

Sexual & Reproductive
Rights

03

This final poster presented distinct challenges. Similar to poster 01,  I wanted to incorporate the text into the props but decided against it. The presence of labels and logos on the depicted props was still distracting, so to address this issue, I undertook meticulous editing in Photoshop, removing the unwanted elements to ensure a clean and focused visual presentation.
